A Friendly Guide for Slot Machine Newbies

Without a doubt the very first thing you will hear when entering a casino is the almost deafening din of
the slot machines. There are short little riffs that are being played over and over again; melodies view
for your attention; spoke words seek to entice gamblers to part with more coinage than they perhaps
planned to; sound effects from a bursting balloon to a speeding freight train permeate the air; the loud
kerplunk of coins hitting the payout tray is always noticeable; and who could forget the laugh tracks
which also play cheers? Without a doubt, the loudest indication that you are in a casino is the noise of
the slot machines.

Yet did you know that

there are a wide variety of slot machines available for your enjoyment? There are
of course the famous ones that will pay you a pretty penny if you are able to produce a result that
shows three matches on the payout line. Over time, more and more payout lines have been added, and it is
not surprising that seven to nine payout lines are now available. Other machines offer the classic table
games, such as poker and Black Jack. It is easy to get lost in the din of all the machines, and here is
a friendly guide for slot machines newbies:

1.In order to play the slots you need to be 21 years of age. If you are under 21 and gamble anyways,
whatever winnings you may take in will be automatically forfeited once your age becomes known. Since
larger payouts require you to produce an ID, this happens more often than you would think.

2.When you sit down at a machine to gamble, remember to insert your players card. Each casino offers
this little plastic card and it permits them to track your gambling habits. In return your play makes
you eligible to receive comps, such as food, hotel rooms, and various other goodies.

3.Do not fall for the notion of the honey machine. Inside each slot machine is a random number
generator. The idea behind this setup is the fact that the combinations of the reels will occur at
completely random times. It is impossible to forecast when a machine will hit a jackpot. To this end it
is also useless to move to a machine that recently paid out, or one that has not paid out in a while.

4.It is considered rude to play more than one machine. This robs someone else of the opportunity to
play a machine, but it will also diminish your stash of coins quicker, thus forcing you to quit sooner!

5.Have you ever wondered what the multi colored light on top of the slot machine is for? In gambling
speak it is referred to as a candle. The white part lights up when you push the change button. It
alerts the employee in charge of the change cart to come by and see what kind of bills you would like to
have exchanged. The colored portion, however, will tip you off from a distance what denomination the
machine accepts. Yellow always stands for quarter, whereas red stands for nickels and blue for dollars.

6.Do not be surprised if instead of coins, your slot machine will pay you with a ticket. While this is
a great way to get out of carrying big heavy buckets with assorted coins in them, it is just as easy to
loose the ticket and thereby your winnings. Remember that these tickets are the same as cash, and it is
the wise player who will go straight for the cash cage to exchange the seemingly worthless paper for currency.
