Belly Up to the Plate Great Buffets to Be Found in Vegas Aside from the world renowned restaurants, probably one of the most infamous attractions of Las Vegas is the all you can eat buffets. Las Vegas has such a variety that you could eat a different buffet for every meal of your trip if you wanted to. Some tourists even come just for the buffets!
Why is the food so great at Las Vegas buffets? Because the casinos know that if they can get you to stay for dinner (or breakfast or lunch depending on the time of day you prefer to gamble) then they are more likely to keep you staying at their casino and therefore are more than likely to weasel a few more dollars out of you at the gambling tables. If you leave

Buffet prices have an extensive range in prices, as well as a range of quality. While the days of really inexpensive buffets have passed in Las Vegas, you should be able to find a decent breakfast buffet for five dollars and a dinner one for 15 dollars. This is not such a bad price when you consider that many buffets will offer prime rib and crab legs as an option for your dining pleasure.
Of course, good food at a good price does mean that there will more than likely be a line. You do have the option of checking out the buffet next door. However, keep in mind that no line at all may be an indication on the quality of the food that is being served.
There are some strategies to get the most for your dining dollar, especially if you decide to splurge on one of the more expensive buffets. Some foods on the line are specifically there to fill you up quickly including potatoes, rice, bread, and many of the side dishes. Remember, the cost of these is relatively inexpensive, so do you want to spend you 15 dollars on a serving of potatoes? Load your plate up with the other goodies such as crab legs, shrimp, and prime rib.
Keep in mind that you are not paying by the pound either. So you do not have to struggle with every tiny piece of shell when eating crab legs or other seafood. Choose the bigger, meatier portions if you like.
It is also helpful to remember that the buffets are all you can eat. Some people are conscious about how much food they load on to their plates, or how many trips they make. Las Vegas is not the place to start a diet! Enjoy yourself now, and worry about fitting back into your skinny jeans once you get home and back to your normal routine.
Also, be aware that there are some advantages to sticking with one hotel or casino. If you are seen often enough at their gambling tables, you may get a coupon to enjoy their buffet at a reduced cost or even for free.
Different hotels and casinos offer different selections, so you can shop around to find the buffet that you like best. The Rio Suites Seafood buffet is one of the pricier ones, yet is worth the money if you enjoy seafood. The Las Vegas Hilton offers a decent meal at a convenient location if you are in town for one of the many conventions. The Aladdin buffet has one of the best selections for the money. The Mirage offers shrimp, Mandalay Bay offers great pasta and prime rib, and Caesars Palace does a good job as well. So take a break from the tables and find a buffet to enjoy the next time you are in Las Vegas.
