Wedding Bells Always Ringing in Vegas

If you have ever been involved in the planning of a wedding, the idea of eloping to Las Vegas may have
crossed your mind at some point. Each year, over 120,000 weddings are preformed there, making it the
most popular wedding destination site. Here are some things to consider before you decide to throw your
traditional wedding plans out the car window.

There are several pros of getting married in Las Vegas. One of the biggest advantages is the cost you
can have a complete wedding ceremony for a few hundred dollars or less. In contrast, the average
traditional U.S. wedding costs over $22,000.

Another advantage to getting married in Las Vegas is that you can get it done quickly. You are

able to
get your marriage license right away, and some of the wedding chapels will even accommodate walk ins.
Reservations are often helpful, however, especially if you want to get married on Valentines Day or
other popular holiday weekend.

When planning a traditional wedding, you have to be concerned with every detail from the flowers to the
music to the photographer and more. If you get married at one of the many Las Vegas hotel wedding
chapels, you can take advantage of the coordinator there to help you make your plans. You can even do
this over the phone or online before you arrive in town.

Lastly, there is always the aspect of fun and adventure in Las Vegas. If you want something out of the
ordinary or a ceremony that is more entertaining than formal, Las Vegas is for you. You can even get
married by an Elvis impersonator if that is what you would like! Plus, there is no need to plan for a
separate honeymoon destination with everything that there is to see and do in Las Vegas it doubles as
a honeymoon spot as well.

Of course, a Las Vegas wedding is not for everyone. Here are some of the downsides to consider before
you book your trip.

For starters, if you are a detail person who has dreamed up everything from the color of the
bridesmaids dresses to the flavor of the cake there is a good chance that your Las Vegas wedding will
not measure up. Some of those details have to be arranged months in advance and may not be possible with
a standard wedding package.

You may also lose some of the mentality that your wedding day is your special day. In Las Vegas,
weddings are a business. Because of this, everything is strictly scheduled, and you could easily find
yourself bumping into other wedding parties on the same day.

If you do not live near Las Vegas, keep in mind that there is a good chance that your entire guest list
will not be able to make it. This may be fine with you if you are trying to avoid select friends and
family members on your big day, but it may also mean that your lifelong best friend may not be able to
be your bridesmaid or groomsman.

If you wish to have a reception after you wedding, you also need to keep in mind that most wedding
chapels do not include that in the package. Arrangements for this have to be made separately, often at a
hotel banquet room or private room in a restaurant. Keep in mind that having a reception will also
affect you total price.

Lastly, keep in mind that there is a bit of stigma attached to a Las Vegas wedding. Despite all the
glitz and glamour that Las Vegas can and often does provide, there will still be people who consider
getting married in Las Vegas as being tacky. You may need to be prepared for the comments from friends
and family when you return.
